FAQs
Has the project started? What are the hours?
Yes, the project started on time yesterday, with a road closure at 7 a.m. Crews will be working 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, but the road will be closed for the full duration of the project. Yesterday, crews focused on staging equipment and clearing the slope to access the culvert.
Why is this project starting now?
This is an urgent, necessary replacement of a culvert failing due to erosion caused by winter storms. We scheduled the emergency repairs to align with school break schedules as much as possible, given the urgent nature of the project. If left unattended, Diablo Road could fail, causing much longer delays and potential harm to travelers. It's not an ideal situation for anyone, and we are moving forward as quickly as possible.
What is the Town doing to alleviate traffic backups?
Our transportation and traffic engineering team is monitoring critical intersections and making adjustments as needed to keep everyone moving. However, with some intersections seeing increased vehicles, there will be inevitable delays.
We love seeing painting on the stump -- what will happen to that fallen tree?
The stump has been temporarily removed from the project area, but the Town hopes to preserve it and move it back when the project is complete. Save the Stump!
