Why is the Town of Danville engaging online?

While traditional engagement brings people together in public meetings and council sessions, it can also be inconvenient, time-consuming, and intimidating. Danville Town Talks gives you another opportunity to participate in issues that are important to you.

    • It's a quick, safe, and convenient way to participate on a range of issues and topics affecting you and the community.
    • You get to decide the where and when.
    • You can see what other community members think about an issue or topic, respond with your own views, and engage in a discussion.
    • Everyone gets to have their say.

Why do I need to register to make a comment?

While registration is not required to see what's happening on Danville Town Talks, it is necessary for many of the more interactive engagement opportunities. We ask you to register to the website for a few reasons.

    1. We want to hear from people across the community. Registration helps us attribute feedback and frequency of feedback to individuals, ensuring that the input is more representative of the broad range of perspectives in the community.
    2. Registration promotes accountability and encourages people to provide more thoughtful responses so that the conversations remain constructive.
    3. It also means that we can help keep you informed or any major changes or updates on the projects you are interested in.

Can I use this site anonymously?

Yes, you can! Even when you register and post comments, your anonymity is protected because you are identified only by the name you have chosen as your screen name.

    Is my privacy protected?

Yes, your privacy is absolutely protected! The town will only use your email to contact you with updates, and it will not be distributed to any third party or used for any other purpose. We do not ask for your personal details or require them at any time as part of your participation. For more information, see the platform's Privacy Policy.

    How are discussion forums moderated?

All public comments are moderated 24 hours a day seven days a week, for inappropriate language, comments that disrespect other participants, and for comments that are off topic.

All moderation is carried out by Bang the Table and all moderation is independent of the Town of Danville. The moderators do not edit or alter any comments and will only remove comments deemed to be significantly off topic, offensive or malicious, in which case they are removed from the site immediately and the person who posted the comment is advised by email. See the moderation policy for more details.

Or, the input may help us gain valuable insight into community views and opinions.
